Pets and fear of fireworks

Triple A (AAA)

A combination of Aconite, Arsenicum Album and Argentum Nitricum. This is a great first aid combination for all sorts of anxiety, and can help calm nerves and reduce restlessness.

Aconite

Aconite is often indicated when the symptoms of fear or anxiety come on very suddenly and intensely, like a panic attack. Your pet may be agitated and restless, and physical symptoms can include a rapid heartbeat and panting. They may be very thirsty and drink a lot of water.  Vomiting and profuse urination.

Arsenicum Album

This remedy is often used for pets experiencing extreme restlessness, pacing, and anxiety. Obsessive behaviours, such as excessive licking, grooming or pacing. Skin may be itchy. Need constant reassurance and companionship. Thirsty but will take small sips of water, and may vomit it.  Nausea, retching, vomiting and diarrhoea due to anxiety. If you see perfectionist tendencies in your pet, such as being very particular about their surroundings, this is a remedy for them.

Argentum Nitricum

Anticipatory anxiety, your pet might become anxious before the fireworks even begin. Hyperactive or impulsive behaviour, which might be destructive. Trembling, especially in the limbs. Diarrhoea. As well as fireworks, they may have fear of narrow spaces and may refuse to go through doorways or tight spaces.

Lycopodium

Lycopodium can be a good choice for pets who become aggressive or territorial when anxious. It’s a good remedy for dogs who are fearful of other dogs and men; they can put on a display of courage despite feeling nervous inside. They bark and then run away.

Phosphorus

Phosphorus can be used for pets who are very anxious and afraid of fireworks, any loud noises and thunderstorms. They can also be anxious in the dark. They may want to hide under furniture. They’ll seek comfort and reassurance during fireworks or thunderstorms and become clingy and fearful, or they may not want to be touched. These pets can be determined, highly strung and can’t bear being left alone.

Pulsatilla

Consider Pulsatilla for pets who are usually timid and clingy. They’ll become very anxious during fireworks and need constant reassurance and this remedy can help them feel more secure and less fearful. They usually hate being alone and separation anxiety can lead to excessive chewing.
